Reflecting on our thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior is no simple task. It's chaotic, uncomfortable, and can be truly draining. Honestly, I found it far easier to remain unaware—to make assumptions and pass judgments based on the limited knowledge I had about someone or a situation, regardless of how close they were to me. Yes, even my own family!
Every choice has its price. I overlooked some critical warning signs and ended up learning some very costly lessons the hard way. Reflecting on it now, everything happened so quietly and gradually—there were subtle clues all along, but I chose to overlook them. I was too caught up in reliving the past or worrying about the future to truly be present in the moment.
Life has a way of moving forward, no matter the circumstances. Progress is inevitable, but choosing to live without suffering is in our hands. I began delving into emotions, behaviors, and human energy, and started observing how those around me, including myself, act and react. It all begins within. It's about tuning into our internal world and truly acknowledging what we are experiencing at any given moment.
When an emotion is recognized, the body naturally moves into action. With mindfulness, we can regulate our actions that are within our control. By consciously analyzing the emotion, I was able to identify the situations, behaviors, environments, or individuals triggering it. This practice allowed me to trace how external factors were affecting my well-being. It also enabled me to express the state of my inner world to others and establish healthy boundaries.
The past three years have been all about relentless practice—over and over again! I’m still on a journey of learning and growth, but now I can understand what’s happening within myself and others with remarkable ease. It brings a profound sense of peace, making all the effort truly worthwhile!
